When my wife and I imagined the perfect Italian getaway, we dreamed of strolling down cobblestone streets surrounded by stunning historic buildings and mind-blowing food.
And Verona—the city of love, Shakespeare, and timeless charm—absolutely met this fantasy and made us fall in love with her.
But let’s be real: where you stay can make or break your trip. That’s why we went with Palazzo Ciopeta, an artsy escape that blends the elegance of a luxury hotel with the cozy, at-home feel of your very own apartment.

A Modern Oasis Wrapped in History
The moment we stepped into Palazzo Ciopeta, we were in awe.
Nestled in Verona’s historic center, this place is a stunning fusion of modern design and classic Italian elegance.
The warm welcome we received set the tone for our stay. The staff? Absolute legends.
They weren’t just friendly—they were local insiders, eager to share their knowledge and help us experience Verona like pros.
Where Art Meets Luxury
What truly sets Palazzo Ciopeta apart is its artistic and sustainable design. Each of the seven luxury apartments is a masterpiece, created with natural materials sourced from the Verona region, blending eco-consciousness with high-end comfort.
The interiors are a work of art—literally. Master sculptor Marcello Chiarenza has left his mark throughout the space, turning each room into a gallery of stunning sculptures and bespoke artwork.
And the lighting? Davide Groppi’s innovative designs cast the perfect glow, making every space feel intimate and inviting.
In the bathrooms, gorgeous mosaics add a modern, artistic touch, while the color palette—warm earth tones create an ambiance that feels both cozy and luxurious.
Staying at Palazzo Ciopeta isn’t just about having a place to sleep; it’s about living inside a thoughtfully crafted masterpiece.
A Room with a View (and a Sculpture!)
Our room at Palazzo Ciopeta was next-level stunning.
Picture this: windows flooding the space with natural light, a plush bed that made it way too easy to sleep in, and—get this—a sculpture as part of the decor.
Every little detail was carefully thought out, from the curated artwork to the ultra-comfy robes. And the vibe? Unreal.
Each morning, we’d sip coffee by the window and watch the city wake up beneath us. Talk about starting the day right!
The Best Location in Verona (Seriously)
If you love exploring on foot, Palazzo Ciopeta’s location is chef’s kiss 🤌. We were within walking distance of everything—Juliet’s House, Piazza delle Erbe, Castel San Pietro for that unreal sunset view—you name it.
And here’s the kicker: Verona has almost no traffic. It felt like we had stepped into a different era, wandering through peaceful streets lined with gorgeous churches and historic buildings.
We grabbed a Verona Pass for free entry to attractions (and free transport, though we barely needed it!).
Catching the Dreamy Sunset at Castel San Pietro
One of our absolute favorite moments in Verona was watching the sunset from Castel San Pietro. Perched atop a hill, this fortress offers the best panoramic views of the city.
As the sky turned shades of pink and gold, we couldn’t help but feel like we were in a fairytale.
Getting there is part of the adventure! You can hike up if you’re feeling energetic, but there’s also a Funicular that will whisk you to the top with ease. It’s just €3 round trip per person or €2 one way—and if you are there in the off-season, you’ll want to opt for the one-way ticket because the Funicular closes at 5 PM (summer hours go until 9 pm).
After sunset, you’ll be strolling back down under the romantic glow of Verona’s streetlights—a magical way to end the evening.
Falling in Love with Verona
Speaking of exploring, this city is pure magic.
We kicked things off with an audio walking tour (highly recommend Voicemap) that guided us through centuries of history, ending in Piazza Erbe, where we celebrated with aperitivos by the Madonna Verona statue.
Other must-do experiences:
- Juliet’s House – Yes, it’s touristy, but we had to get a photo on the iconic balcony and we loved it.
- Castel San Pietro – This hilltop fortress offers the most breathtaking sunset views.
- Verona Arena – A Roman amphitheater that still hosts concerts and operas (we’re already planning a return trip to see a show!).
- Basilica di San Zeno Maggiore – One of the most gorgeous churches we’ve ever seen.
- Giardino Giusti – A dreamy Renaissance garden that feels like a hidden escape.

A Foodie’s Paradise
No Italian trip is complete without indulging in the local cuisine.
And Verona is an absolute heaven for food lovers. Our top pick is Santa Felicita Restaurant—a jaw-dropping dining experience set inside a church from 1207.
History, atmosphere, and incredible food all in one spot!
More Than Just a Stay
Palazzo Ciopeta isn’t just a place to sleep—it’s an experience.
After a full day of wandering Verona’s stunning streets, coming back to our spacious, art-filled room felt like a retreat within a retreat.
The blend of comfort and design made it the perfect place to recharge before heading out for another adventure.
It was the balance we didn’t know we needed—immersing ourselves in the city’s energy, then retreating to a peaceful, beautifully curated space.
