Enter La Paz.

The hospitality industry here has grown extensively in recent years, and tourists are flocking as a result.

But why is La Paz such a popular destination to visit right now?

Why Visit La Paz

La Paz sits in the Baja California Sur region of Mexico and is known for its beautiful beaches.

These are pristine, expansive, and boast beautiful soft white sand.

Because La Paz is a beachside city, its vibe is relaxed and laidback.

This means travelers can enjoy the best of both worlds: seaside relaxation and city exploration.

La Paz, Balandra Beach, Mexico

If you only visit one beach then make it Balandra.

This has been named the best beach in Mexico on more than one occasion. It is a stunning cove with calm, shallow waters which means that you can even walk across the bay here.

Other beaches worth exploring include Pichilingue and El Tecolote beaches, which are fringed with restaurants and bars, giving them a livelier atmosphere.

One of the best cultural attractions in the city is the 19th-century Nuestra Señora de La Paz Cathedral, which dominates the skyline.

No admission fee is charged here, but donations are welcomed.

This part of the city has an old-world charm, and in its heart, you can experience an authentic Mexican experience.

Other attractions well worth exploring include the city’s Museum of Art and Museum of Anthropology.

People watching in the Jardín Velasco, with its ornate Victorian-style bandstand, is also a wonderful activity here.

And visit the Centro Culture La Paz.

This building has a beautiful exterior facade, and on the inside, you can experience cultural exhibits such as art displays, plays, and other performances.

On the interior walls of the building, you can enjoy 3 beautiful murals made by the Mexican artist Francisco Merino.

Getting To La Paz From The U.S.

La Paz has its own international airport, which means that getting there is much easier than you might think.

You can fly nonstop to La Paz from Los Angeles. These flights operate twice a week on Wednesdays and Saturdays throughout the winter season. This flight route is operated by Alaska Airlines.

The good news is that these flights are incredibly affordable.

I pulled up a dummy flight to get some price info. Flying out on December 11 and returning on December 18 would cost $237 return.

For a post-holiday season trip in January, you would expect to pay $241 to fly from January 20 to January 27.

This shows that flight prices are fairly consistent, as long as you don’t want to fly during the holidays (when they skyrocket!).

This flight has a 2 hour 21-minute outbound and a 2 hour 42-minute inbound time.

Where To Stay In La Paz

One of the main reasons for La Paz’s growing popularity is its influx of world-class hotels and resorts.

The city has experienced a 20% rise in room capacity in the last 12 months.

This means you’ll have no shortage of excellent places to stay!

For an affordable 3 star hotel try the Hotel HBlue. This hotel offers  a continental or American breakfast, free wifi and a 24 hour front desk.

It’s a small hotel but it still boasts a terrace, restaurant, and bar so you can relax and unwind.

The total cost for a 3 night stay from December 11 to December 14 is $466 based on 2 adults sharing. That works out as $77 per person per night.

It isn’t much more expensive to opt for 5 star luxury. For the same dates you could stay in the 5 star Hotel Catedral La Paz.

This hotel is renowned for its world class service and has a year-round outdoor pool and sun terrace.

The total cost for 2 people sharing for 3 nights would be $502. That’s $83.50 per person per night.
