More than 9.5 million tourists visited Palm Beach County in 2023 and that figure is set to grow again this year.

While summer is the busiest and most popular time of year in Palm Beach, that doesn’t necessarily mean that it’s the best.

Here’s why Palm Beach is best visited in the fall:

Why Visit Palm Beach?

If you’re not familiar with Palm Beach’s beauty, then you need to know that it is an iconic island town in South Florida.

Palm Beach is home to beautiful mansions, some of Florida’s best resorts, and an abundance of historic landmarks.

It’s also considered one of the most stylish vacation destinations in Florida.

It offers something for everything, including a rich arts and culture scene.

Visit the galleries on Worth Avenue if you’re interested in exploring and supporting local artists. The Norton Museum of Art is considered the best in the area, with general admission costing just $18 (tickets here).

In terms of beaches, you definitely won’t be disappointed. Palm Beach offers year-round fun in the sun (with fall being a personal favorite), and the best beaches on the island include Coral Cove Park, Juno Beach Park, and the Boynton Beach oceanfront park.

A Packed Events Schedule

The cooler (but still tropical) weather of fall season in Palm Beach means that it’s the perfect time to explore beyond the beach.

Every weekend throughout the season, there are festivals, celebrations, and fun holiday events for Halloween, too.

From October 11-20 you can enjoy an authentic Oktoberfest experience with imported German beers and locally made bratwurst and schnitzel. 2 bands direct from the Oktoberfest in Munich provide the entertainment, adding to the fun!

Tickets purchased on the gate are $20 per person but if you buy your tickets early you can get a 50% discount.

From September 1 – 30 foodies can indulge in the Flavor South Florida event.

This is the official restaurant month for Palm Beach County with participating restaurants offering special 3-course prix fixe menus for lunch and dinner ranging from $25 to $65.

This means you can enjoy the best food that Palm Beach has to offer without breaking the bank. You can see all of the participating restaurants on their Instagram page.

Shoulder Season Prices

Fall and spring are considered the shoulder seasons in Palm Beach when both crowd levels and prices are lower. And I’m a big fan of low prices!

I’m not going to tell you Palm Beach is cheap (anyone who lives there would tell you I was lying!) In fact, Palm Beach’s cost of living is 97% higher than the Florida average.

However, hotel prices are considerably cheaper in September and October than they are in July and August.

So you can experience the luxury of the region without breaking the bank.

I looked at a 3-night stay in October to work out how much you could expect to spend.

From October 16-19, with prices based on 2 people sharing, you can expect to pay US$828 ($276 per night) to stay in the 4-star Hilton West Palm Beach which has exceptional reviews.

If you want to stay in one of the iconic candy-colored buildings along the beach front then for the same date the 4 star blush pink Colony Hotel Palm Beach comes in at US$1,711 ($570 per night) for those who want to splurge.

Why Fall?

If all of these aren’t enough reasons to tempt you to visit Palm Beach in fall, then I need to bring out the big guns: the weather.

Anyone whose spent the summer months in Florida knows that the heat and the humidity aren’t for the faint hearted!

While some people love it, I find it completely unbearable.

In October the weather is still hot but the humidity drops and the temperatures are a much comfortable 86 degrees F.

By November they have dropped again to 86 degrees F.

So why aren’t I recommending you all visit in November and December instead?

Because the crowd levels are much lower in September and October than in both the summer months and the winter months.

Florida’s snowbirds begin arriving in November, which means that crowd levels and prices start to go up again.

While this tends to be an older crowd, it still means that the roads and the beaches are much fuller than they are during the fall months.

If there’s such thing as a sweet spot for travel to Palm Beach, then fall is it!
